Summary

We were created with the capacity to magnify. We will either magnify the negatives, or we will choose to magnify the true nature of God. What are you currently empowering with your thoughts? Join us this week as we learn to exchange negative thinking for God’s thoughts and overcome being double-minded.

Key Scriptures:

+ James 1:5-8. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting. For the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, he is driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he would receive anything from the Lord being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

+ Psalm 57:7. My heart is fixed, O Lord. My heart is fixed.

+ Colossians 3:2. Set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on earth.

+ Philippians 2:13. For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Welcome back to the Brilliant Perspectives Podcast. I'm your host, Jalen Bowden, and I hope

0:07.0

you're excited for this brand new month, where we will be diving into a four-week series

0:12.4

on Wisdom. And hey, if you've been enjoying these weekly episodes as much as we have been

0:18.4

here at Team Brilliant, then we want to encourage you to check us out on BrilliantTV.com for

0:24.4

more incredible content. Alright, so on to this new theme of Wisdom, where we are going

0:30.8

to be stepping into an upgraded mindset with God. Today, we are breaking off double-mindedness,

0:38.5

and we're learning to reset our focus away from the negatives and on to who God is for

0:43.7

us. I love some of these tangible activations that you're about to hear from Graham. One

0:50.4

of my favorites is that we get to be fascinated with who God is for us. Because when we're

0:55.9

completely taken in by the majesty of God, it suddenly becomes impossible to see our

1:02.5

circumstances as being bigger than he is. It just puts everything back into perspective.

1:08.7

What's also empowering is that we get to make predetermined choices about how we're going

1:15.8

to handle the negatives in life. I mean, think about this. How many times have you found yourself

1:22.2

automatically reacting to your circumstances in the pressure of the moment? Don't worry,

1:28.3

it seems to happen to the best of us somehow. But here's a better thought. What if it's possible

1:36.6

that we don't have to be caught off guard by our negative circumstances? And what if those

1:42.0

difficult moments are actually teaching us how to think with a mind of Christ and how to revel

1:48.3

in the beauty of his majesty? Well, it's not too good to be true, and I'm so excited that you're

1:55.4

here with us today as Graham Cook teaches us to overcome being double-minded.

2:03.3

All behavior is drawn from our perception of who we are in Jesus.

2:09.5

Perception is always empowered by thinking. And thinking produces a particular language that

2:18.5

governs our confession. Whether that confession is good or bad, it's the same process. Confession
