1 Kings chapter 3, verses 7 through 9.

And now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of David, my father.

Although I am but a little child, I do not know how to go out or come in.

And your servant is in the midst of your people whom you have chosen,

a great people too many to be numbered or counted for multitude.

Give your servant, therefore, an understanding mind to govern your people,

that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?

These are probably my favorite verses in the book of first kings and really in much of the Old

Testament as God says to Solomon, I'll give you as king whatever you want.

And Solomon asks for wisdom, for an understanding mind.

He says, I'm only a little child.

I don't know how to carry out this responsibility you have given me. So help me with

wisdom. Help me to discern between good and evil that I might lead and govern this people well.

And God is most pleased with that prayer.

And God promises to bless Solomon.

Yes, with wisdom, and then in so many other ways.

And the reason I love these verses is because I feel like Solomon in 1st King's chapter 3.

In every facet of my life, like in my marriage, in my family,

I don't know how to lead my family well.

How to shepherd these children's hearts to know God.
