Night as far as far as Night has fallen on the desert

And all across the desert southwest

From Dolzura, California To the lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas, people are driving all over to spend the holiday with family and friends.

Because that is one of the many blessings of the American Southwest that you can travel without too much worrying about snow.

But then the winter storms come as they do sometimes.

And all of a sudden, its blizzard conditions and white knuckle insanity can't see a thing

what happened to the world around me.

It is Christmas Eve the rain has been pouring down upon the high desert turning to snow in the dead of night.

In the higher elevations, wild winds, real weather out there, I love it.

The dog loves it.

Gives you a sense of purpose while I'm out walking through this, like your John Wesley Powell.

The back home in God's country again where the weird things are out here where maybe I will again need to get in the habit of not seeing another soul for days or weeks or months at a time, strange times.

The radio station in Joshua Tree is running Christmas music tonight instead of Desert

Oracle because it's Christmas Eve, and I guess that'd spoil it, so I thought I put out this

podcast.
