Summary
This is a podcast in two halves!
In the first part, David and Matt react to Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal from Wimbledon, the bombshell news which broke at around 7pm on Thursday. How did the story unfold throughout the day? And what reasons did Nadal give for his decision?
Earlier, Catherine, David and Matt were joined by Simon Briggs to talk about Ons Jabeur and Elena Rybakina reaching the women’s final. We covered their semi-final performances, the Jabeur story and why it’s so important, and the thorny issue of nationality in tennis and why it’s a big talking point with Rybakina, who was born in Moscow, now in with a big chance of lifting the trophy.
