Today is part two of Willie Nelson Landlord. In part one we heard about how

Willie acquired a large piece of property in South Austin in 1977 and created a venue, a rehearsal hall, a studio, and ran essentially a

flop house where his crew and other musicians would stay for quite cheap in a series of apartments.

It's pretty good.

also talked a lot about the live music reputation that Austin created during this time and

introduces to a few interesting characters.

Part 2, we're about to pick up after Willie made some changes.

Willie cashed out in 1988. He had bought this land in 1977. So before we get to

who was running Willie's project,

had hired a music veteran Wayne Nagel to build out

a newly minted awesome rehearsal complex

and run it like a real business.

Nagel soon realized there were multiple facets to the Willie Mystique and that some could create headaches.

One of his first moves was to pave the dirt parking lot on the alleyway.

Within days he learned his spruce up wasn't universally appreciated.

We started hearing that one of Willie's guys had $50,000 buried out there, or called Nagel.

And we just cut off access to it.
