The news last night first that we found out that Willie Mays passed away.

And so when SNY opened up the broadcast, Gary and Keith discussed it, this was Keith Hernandez on S&Y.

He was to say, hey, kid, he had that a bulliont personality, infectious and genuine.

And I got to tell him

that he was the greatest player ever saw

quite emotional

Keith getting emotional

very much so yeah

yeah I mean there is a

baseball player and a baseball fan

of a certain age that

Willie Mays was God to them sort of like the Yan baseball fan of a certain age that Willie Mays was God to them. Sort of like

the Yankee fan of a certain age at Mickey Mantle. It's never going to get better than Mickey

Mantle. And Willie Mays was just one of those guys. And back then, you know, as athletic as he was,

the defense, the home runs. He did everything.

So, yeah, I mean, he's just one of those guys.

The second that you start playing baseball and learn about baseball,

he's one of the first three people that you learn about.

He was my dad's favorite player.

My too.

And I remember when he, you know, obviously I was old enough to remember when he came back to the Mets

and he was like a shell of himself.
