This is Amanda, your host, and tonight we are doing a story request from Willa.

Willa is seven years old.

She lives in San Rafael, California, and she happens to be a friend of Jesse's

from when he was in preschool. Willa has requested a story about mermaids, fairies, and vampires.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, there was a big girl named Willa who loved adventure. She loved adventure

so much that on Halloween she decided to dress up as an explorer who travels the world

in search of unexplored places and hidden treasures. Willa came up with a story about herself that she was on an expedition in search of the

Amazons, a mythical civilization of all female warriors that no explorer had ever found.

On Halloween night, Willa went trick-or-treating with her three closest friends, Alice, Cleo, and Mila.

Alice was dressed as a mermaid with a beautiful, sparkly tail, long flowing hair, and a top made of sea shells and sailor's rope.

Cleo went as a powerful fairy with feathery wings and a wand that lit up when she tapped it

to grant wishes.

And Mila was an ancient vampire with sharp teeth, ivory skin, and a rich velvety cape.

The girls carried great big pillowcases for their candy,

and their goal was to completely fill them by the end of the night. They were close to doing

just that, each girl carrying a heavy pillowcase that was almost three-quarters full,

when between two brightly lit and decorated houses swarmed with

trick-or-treaters, they noticed a narrow driveway up a hill to an older house with its porch

lit by a single yellow bulb. The girls knew from experience that houses that fewer trick-or-treaters

visit tend to give out more and bigger

candies, so they decided to move away from the crowd and trick-or-treat at the quiet house.
