As I speak to you here in late March, things are extremely dire on the island nation of Cuba. And, you know, Cuba has had

strong headwinds for a very long time, obviously, both the government it has and the economic

models pursued with the U.S. embargo. But things have really ratcheted up to a almost unprecedented degree in the last few months.

And basically what's happened in case you haven't been tracking this is after the U.S.

government abducted and charged the president of Venezuela, Nikolaos Maduro, they then

moved to create a kind of embargo against Cuba, particularly targeting oil.

Venezuela, which is a richly oil-producing nation, had been the main supplier of oil for Cuba.

And in this new arrangement that Donald Trump has struck clearly with the formerly vice president, Delci Rodriguez, that has been cut off.

Cuba is in dire need of fuel. And obviously, if you cut any modern nation off from access to fossil fuels, you are going to create untold and widespread human suffering.
