Hi. awards lovers. I'm David Canfield. I'm Richard Lawson. And I'm Rebecca Ford. Hello, I don't have to speak French anymore because Cannes is officially over. Richard,

you have been freed from the clutches of the quassette. Over the weekend, the jury announced the

winners of the top prizes from the film festival, including the Palm Door,

the top prize, which went to Jafar Panahis. It was just an accident, which Neon is

distributing here in the US later this year. Before we talk about that and the other prizes,

Richard, for the first time, you got to attend the ceremony. You were there until the end,

so I would just like to know

what it was like. Well, it was a weird day because I was in my apartment getting ready to go to

movies and all of a sudden I was like, oh, the internet's out. And then I was like, the bathroom lights

aren't working. And then I went into the hallway of the apartment building. I was like, the lights are out

here because there was a citywide blackout in Cannes and areas surrounding it.

Because I guess the current thing is that someone sabotaged the grid somehow.

Yeah.

So that threw my whole day and disarray, the place where I was supposed to see movies, the Seneum, which is kind of a multiplex, a little bit outside of the town center. They had to shut their screenings down.

they had backup generators,
