| 0:35.6 | Morgan, how's how you feeling, my man? |
| 0:37.1 | Feeling good, man. I'm always impressed when you nail the intro in one take like that, because I know you got a lot of them in your head there. So I just wanted to shout you out there. I feel like I have to redeem myself because for those who don't know, I messed up our last one. I think we got like three minutes into the podcast. And I was like like we got to start over because I did the intro wrong. |
| 0:54.8 | So I appreciate that my man. |
| 0:56.2 | And then we are also joined by Brandon at. Brandon, how are you feeling? Feeling good. Coming off another lion's victory. Can't be upset about going four in one in this way. It's matchup. I was going to say like that's, it's good to be four and one at this point. I know there's a lot of chatter. |
| 1:10.5 | There's a lot of hesitancy because, you know, the lions are hitting that point in the season where a lot of teams are as well. |
| 1:14.8 | Where. It's good to be four and one at this point. I know there's a lot of chatter. There's a lot of hesitancy because, you know, the lions are hitting that point in the season where a lot of teams are as well, where you're trying to like keep guys healthy or you're losing a guy here or there. I think there's some people that are a little panicky, you know, considering the next few opponents that the lions have on their schedule. but I think a lot of that can be calmed down if the lions are able to get a big time win over the Kansas City Chiefs this week. And so in today's podcast, we're going to go over that in terms of what the Lions needs to do on the office event to get the best of Kansas City's defense, as well as what the defense needs to do to be able to contain Patrick Mahomes and this offense that's starting to find a little bit of rhythm now that they're getting a couple of their pieces back as well on the offensive side. So before we kind of get into that, guys, let's take a look at the Kansas City Chiefs as they kind of sit right now in the, in this early parts of this NFL season. They're currently sitting at two and three after a nail-biter loss to |
| 2:01.6 | the Jacksonville Jaguars or Jaguars team that has also moved to four and one on the season. So |
| 2:06.2 | far, they only have two wins on the year against the New York Giants that they got in week four, |
| 2:10.6 | as well as, I'm sorry, in week three. And then a week four win against the Baltimore Ravens, |
| 2:16.8 | a Ravens team that is kind of |
| 2:18.1 | struggling. So if you're grading those wins, Morgan, like it doesn't look like the most |
| 2:22.4 | impressive wins on the year. But I think it starts to look even more dire when you look at |
| 2:27.5 | the losses they've had against teams that I think a lot of people would consider to be contenders |
| 2:32.4 | in some former fashion. Yeah, and the chiefs are not playing their best football right now. Like I think that's easily, you can easily see that and talk about that. But as we all know, it really doesn't, it doesn't matter how you're playing in September and October. It matters in December and January, you know, so I know everybody knows that, but that's why I want everyone to, yeah, they're not playing their best right now, but they're still the chiefs, still the, what, three-time champs in the Mahomes era, and the Mahomes and Andy Reid era. So you got to respect them. It's going to be a tough environment. Arrowhead already, excuse me, always is. And yeah, it'll be still going to be a tough game, man, even though I don't think they're playing it. But also, don't you, do you guys think this makes them a little more dangerous because their backs are kind of up against the wall? Like, they're not out of the division right now. The Chargers and Broncos are at three and two. So they're right there in the thick of it. But at the same time, |
| 3:24.5 | like going down two and four, that's a pretty tough pill to swallow, right? It kind of makes me think like they could be even more dangerous having just dropped that game to the Jags. Yeah, absolutely. I think they, going into this game, I think their mindset, Brandon, is just going to be that much the same as the Lions. The Lions are going to be going to be going to this game looking to prove something against a team that was just in the Super Bowl this past year. |
| 3:43.8 | And then the chiefs are going to be that much the same as the Lions. The Lions are going to be going to this game looking to prove something against a team that was just in the Super Bowl this past year. And then the Chiefs are going to be going into this game looking to prove that like, hey, that loss against the Jaguars is a fluke and that they can bounce back from that and be able to contend with a hot Lions team that's, you know, again, more so on the uptick than they are, you know, kind of regressing at this point. So I think that's another thing that will make this an interesting matchup for this week. Yeah, I mean, if you heard Patrick Mahom's comments earlier this week, he already said we already lost too many games and they've lost three. So there's still a whole lot of season ahead of time, but the fact that the Lions, if they win, make them two and four. I can definitely see them starting to get in their bag of tricks, starting to panic a little bit just because, you know, this offense is just surrounding Patrick Mahomes. It is literally the Patrick Mahomes show. If any other quarterback is under center for them, they could be one and four, they could be out in five. This team is just riding on Mahomes right now. They'll get Rishi Rice back next week, and that might help their offense out. But overall, Miko, this team definitely is kind of leaning towards that panic button early on in the season. I'm sure, you know, they'll pick things up. We've seen teams like do this before. Remember the Packers and Aaron Rogers relax. We've seen the Tom Brady's and the Patriots. So you can't count them out this early of the season. No, I think people were doing that last year as well when like the chiefs were struggling in the early parts of the season. And then lo and behold, they end up in the Super Bowl anyway. So like to Morgan's point and to the same point that you're making as well, it doesn't really matter what they look like in these early parts of the season as long as they're playing their best football at the end. But for the lions, it still is a big win for them, for them to be able to go up against an Andy Reed coach team to go up against a Patrick Mahomes, a Chris Jones, you know, a Travis Kelsey type of team and still contend at a really high level. Like that continues to keep that momentum, you know, trekking forward because the next couple of games, like the Lions have some really tough, tough matchups. Yeah, put it like we're going to get into the breakdown, obviously of the game, but this is a game, in my opinion. The Lions have been handling folks, right? Like Cleveland, Cincinnati, they'd just been kind of the Ravens even to an extent. |
| 5:40.7 | Like that game, that should have been a big point differential, but the lines left some meat on the bone. |
