Paddy, I missed you yesterday. Why weren't you here?

0:08.8

Well, we thought it would be improving the podcast, just to make it simpler.

0:12.6

It wasn't. I was very sad. And we had a lovely chat with Frank Gardner and Steve Rosenberg,

0:16.9

who both told us lots of interesting things. So do listen to it in your feeds if you haven't listened to it yet. But I did miss you. So I was cycling on a tandem across the seven bridge with Greg James. That's so cool. I love Greg James. He was greeted by hundreds and hundreds of fans. It was amazing. And in Wales, people were drawing up little signs with his slogans on from breakfast. Good boy. Regards to your lizard. And he's raising money for comic relief, basically for people who have to face challenges who are not cheered very much in their life. And perhaps there are no one on the tandem behind them in life. That's the kind of idea of it. And did you actually pedal, where if you were on the back, sometimes it's cheating on that front, isn't there?

0:54.6

No. Your chain is joined as you can hear here. All right, we'll get into a nice rhythm here, Paddy.

1:00.4

Yeah, no, let's just concentrate on me being as good as I can be. And then I'll get chatting.

1:05.6

How is you cycling? I cycle every day. I've got a motorbike licence as well. But cycling across the Severn Bridge on a sunny day, it's like a bucketless thing.

1:15.6

Well, this is the thing, I mean, the whole challenge is deliberately difficult and awful.

1:22.6

Little hill here.

1:24.6

We're going up a hill now.

1:26.6

A little squeeze, Paddy, little squeeze.

1:30.3

I love that.

1:31.7

Was it fun?

1:32.3

It was absolutely uplifting, I can tell you.

1:34.8

And Greg is doing extremely well,

1:36.7

but I wasn't prepared by the reaction from listeners,

1:39.4

radio listeners who come out to say hello to him.

1:42.4

And also the challenge is very eloquent.

2:53.2

Not everyone gets cheered on in life. Money will be spent on those people via comic relief. So presumably you can go to the BBC website and there'll be lots of info and stuff about watching Greg's challenge and giving money to people who need it if you like to. BBC.com.com.org. I didn't know either that you were a bit of a biker. Yes, it's in my past. I feel there's a podcast in it. Oh no, I think you can just tell us now. No, I do. Leathers? I do, yes, definitely love a jacket. And I like a motorbike. Love the trousers? I've not been in then since my nightclubbing days in New York. Definitely is a podcast. Meanwhile, back in the news, we will be discussing the news today, will we not? I don't know. No, we will. Sorry, I'll stop being silly. We will. So we're spending to discuss, which we'll get to, when we start Sunday's Newscast. Newscast from the BBC. Fat boy sliver me in the classroom doing our violin lessons. I was the tappletail in the class. Can I have an apology please? I trust almost nobody. That daddy has to sometimes do strong language. Next time in Moscow. I feel delulu with no salulu. Take me down to Downey Street. Let's go have a tour. Blimey. Hello, it's Laura in the studio.

3:01.1

Hello, it's Patty back in the studio. And hello, it's Henry at home. So this morning, we awake to more Iranian strikes across the Gulf.

3:12.3

We awake to more Israeli strikes on Iran and American strikes on Iran. And we awake also to President Trump's relatively late yesterday, well, the second half of yesterday, asking China, France, Japan, South Korea and the UK to send ships to the Straits of Hormuz in order to protect that vital waterway that's a bit like, you know, the sort of maritime motorway for the world, where oil and gas and all sorts of goods move through, currently clogged up because of the conflict, which is what has sent oil prices skyrocketing. But that's a contrast to last Saturday's posting. The United Kingdom wants our great ally, maybe the greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thoughts, sending two aircraft cars to the Middle East.
