the Conservatives may yet be punished at the polls.

The Eurozone is threatening global growth once again. Foremost is a chronic structural

issue in France. It needs to cut spending to put the public finances in order and reform labour

markets to improve long-term competitiveness.

Until then, the private sector will not invest in jobs in growth

and to offset the dampening effects of austerity, Germany needs to step up spending.
