Welcome back to Buckeye Talk. It is the final mark it down Monday of 2023 preseason. We got a game coming up on Saturday Ohio State at Indiana today.

We are predicting how this season is going to end up. Who is going to make the college football playoff the last year of the four team college football playoff and where is Ohio State going to be in that mix?

And who is going to win the national championship? I'm Nathan Beard from Cleveland.com along with Steven Means and Andrew Gillis. Guys, does it feel like the end of an era like going into this final year of a four team playoff?

You know, I'm looking at a lot of dynamics. I was doing this and it kind of made me think like, man, I wish this was a 12 team playoff. I think there's like, I think we had down to like eight really fun teams here.

Or I'm thinking about the Ohio State quarterback situation and how different that might be approached in a 12 team playoff world where you don't have to worry about that fourth game against Notre Dame, maybe being a make a break came already that early in the season.

Like, does this feel like the end? And I know you have, we all have different opinions about whether there should only be a 14 playoff or not.

Does this, does the season feel like there's some finality to an era and we're transitioning into something else?

This is the last time that the regular season is going to be this stressful for the teams at the top of the total pool because you just, you know, I mean, Ohio State's making a 12 team playoff unless they completely fall off a cliff and go like 84 or 75 or something like that.

So the stressful days of the week three non conference game week four non conference game are opening the season on the road in the big 10 is a little less stressful from a macro view than it is a micro view going forward, which I'm all for.

I love that.

Andrew Steven says this is the last year that the regular season will be stressful. What word would you use? This is the last year the regular season will be blank.

Meaningful. I think we are going to, you mentioned finality.

It's, I think it's more than just the playoff. I think it's the pack 12s impending doom, you know, the pack 12 was going away.

The big 12 is obviously going to go on some major changes who knows what's going on with the ACC kind of moving forward. It just kind of feels like the end of an era almost, you know, it kind of feels like as Steve, I don't know what even Steven's doing right now.

He's playing some kind of instrument.

Yeah, I don't know. I'm playing a sad song that go along with what's the near my god, I think you don't know my god to the is the Titanic song. So he's playing that.

Yeah, this is going to suck.

You know, I've said this for a while because what's going to happen is we're going to have a regular season where all right, you mentioned the Notre Dame game. I think the Notre Dame game is a great example.

The Ohio State goes in a Notre Dame stadium and gets upset and loses.

Well, the rest of the season, what are we talking about us three, what is everybody else in Ohio State, fandom, whatever talking about you are talking about.

Oh God, we need Notre Dame to lose because now Notre Dame is just like moving roadblock and they're watching games every week.
