An annual event where car fanatics gather to show off their rides.

Oh yeah, it's a stick to it's even better.

The first year I got this all in. In 2016, more than a million people showed up to Gawk at the cool, classic, and sometimes confounding cars.

Today we've seen everything from a tricked out Ford Mustang with toy dragons attached to the

body to a license plate boldly declaring its owner original

gangster. In other words, this is ground zero for personal car ownership.

People here have deep connections to their wheels.

A lot of when I was a teenager, so long-term relationship, will it?

This is one attendee, Dewey from Battle Creek, Michigan. He brought his lime green

1971 Ford Mustang Mach one. He's owned it for 36 and a half years.

Some enthusiasts are rooted in this stretch of suburban Detroit.

My grandfather moved here in 1944. We are the oldest continuously operating business in

Ferndale. Meet Melvin, a Ferndale radiator right on Woodward Avenue. He's been in the business his grandfather

built for 45 years. In fact it still looks plucked out of the 1950s.

Yeah nothing's changed. Nothing's changed.

Nothing's changed in here.

I mean, if you see the office,

the sign if you walked in or 1950s,

would look just like this.

Melvin is kind of a superhero.
