Well, we always like to catch up with Tristan when he gets back from the road when he's been on a reporting trip.

And that is the occasion on which he's here to talk today.

He was actually in Phoenix for a conference featuring various Republican governors over the last couple or actually I think it was just last week.

And that was an interesting time to be at this conference, which is annual.

But it's interesting because on this occasion they were gathering after Glenn Youngkins surprise win in a blue state.

And we've talked about Youngkins win a lot on this podcast and I think we all agree that it's accurate to see this as something of a mile marker or a landmark in the culture war.

But Tristan, tell us your own story about this for the Federalist.

Tell us how the various governors that were convened in Phoenix reacted to Youngkins win at the conference.

Well, they were certainly excited and I think a lot of them were really optimistic going into next year.

They're probably governor association itself was really exciting going into next year.

They all seem to think that the map is very favorable to Republicans and more importantly the political climate, which I think they saw in Virginia and New Jersey.

I talked to people who work for the RGS as consultants and they say they were pretty surprised at how close the results in New Jersey came when Republicans actually almost took the governor's mansion there earlier this month.

But no, there was there was a sense is there was this really this electric excitement surrounding Glenn Yulkin at this conference.

I mean South Carolina governor who's on stage and you could barely contain his excitement on stage as he was talking about Glenn Yulkin's victory sitting right next to him.
