Well, the situation in relation to Israel, Iran is obviously fast moving.

And in those circumstances, it's really important to cling on to the

key principles here. Obviously all of us, UK included, are very concerned about the nuclear

programme that Iran is developing, long been concerned about that, also completely recognise Israel's

right to self-defence, but the principle is that we need to de-escalate this. There's a real risk

of escalation here that will impact the region, possibly beyond the region, into Gaza, and obviously

it's already having an impact on the economy.

That's Kirstama, talking to journalists about whether the UK could be dragged into a war with Iran.

Each time I listen to that clip, I hear something slightly different.

At first, I thought he was trying to say nothing.

But actually, I think there is a pretty clear message coming out of it,

which is that he does not want this country to follow whatever America is thinking of doing in terms of military action.

It does appear as if there could be clear space between Trump, the White House, Stama and number 10.

But if push comes to shove, if the crunch comes and Trump asks Stama for assistance in

attacking Iran, how credible is it that Stama will actually say, no thank you?
