Jeff, I was a gentleman who we had on the show last week for the Boston Herald and didn't realize that we were throwing him into an event of controversy.

It was a phone call in which we asked about a take that I had heard on the Felger and MAZ show when Greg Bedard was in there.

And all of a sudden, things blew up.

Jeff, I apologize.

I honestly had no idea that the firestorm that happened afterward was going to come your way, Mr. Howe.

It's not your fault.

Honestly, I forgot all about it.

It did create excellent television, and by the way, you might have been the thing that put Sarah Underwood over the top in 98-mile. You were a late addition when ripping on Felger. So thank you for that. We appreciate that. Oh, that was fun. I was glad to do it. Glad you asked me. All right. So real quick, I just want to ask you about this Texans team. Do you buy when people are saying that they could possibly?

I mean, I'm hearing a lot this week.

It sounds like people are kind of losing their minds over how good this team is going to be this year. I've heard people say that they are the second best team in the AFC. I don't know if I believe that at all. After just watching a couple practices, what do you think their potential is this year? Well, I think they probably have the best defense in the AFC, at least the best defense the Patriots will face in the AFC. I still think the Raiders are the second best team in the AFC, but in terms of the South, I mean, there's a lot of buzz around the Titans and a little less with the Jaguars, but we know how that always ends. And I really think it's going to come down to, you know,

somebody's going to have to beat the Texans in order to prove they're better than them in the South. Their defense is legit. I had some serious questions going into this week just because they lost A.J. Boyer, the cornerback went to Jacksonville. I think the world of him, and he took away half the field last year,

and that AFC divisional round game against the Patriots,

he's a heck of a quarterback, but they like Kevin Johnson, and he had a pretty decent week, although Brandon Cooks beat him for,

I think it was a 20- or 30-yard touchdown pass yesterday. And then the other real question

is something that we probably can't answer until into the season.

They lose Vince Wilfork, who is obviously great on the field, but off the field was huge for

Judeavian Clowny, who wasn't always the most consistently reliable guy.

So does losing a leader like Wilfork have an adverse effect on Clowny?

You know, I can't answer that now because he wasn't on the field this week.

Don't know what he's going to look like this season.

So there are definitely some question marks, but the Texans brought it this week.

You could tell that this meant these two practices meant a lot to them, especially on defense.
