Go to 1 Samuel 17.

Maybe we'll eventually get there.

I don't intend for this to be really be a sermon-type setting so much as I just want to share with you some things the Lord's talking to me about.

And maybe we just kind of eavesdrop on that conversation together.

Let me read a couple of things to you.

The first couple of these will be review, but I think it's just good to put it in our heart

I'm going to talk to you tonight about the illusion of success and the elusiveness of significance

the illusion of success and the elusiveness of significance so I'm going to talk in. I'll talk a lot about two words that would be

important for us tonight, pace and cadence, pace and cadence. So listen to this. In this elevated

sense of devotional necessity, it is incumbent upon us that we find our intended pace. We are

quite simply trapped in the cage of our culture's obsession with

this notion that we are in some way entitled to being mused, that we are in some way advancing

as we dance to the dull rhythm of the fading world around us. Never really knowing that

the technological advancements around us have actually assaulted and entangled us in such a way

that we can now justify hours wasted in a day in which hours can so ill afford disregard.

I feel the roaring of a fresh wellspring beckoning you and I to come away, to separate ourselves.

We are being invited into the grandest adventure in all of the ages.

The journey where we become agents by which the pre-designed intention is recovered,

by recapturing the simplicity of undivided attention.

How you might say, by this man named Jesus becoming such an unwavering focal point that all inferior peripheral

notions lose their power to pull us into the hypnotic world of wasted purpose. Why are we here?

It rings out as the grand philosophical question inside of a dimension called time. However,
