The smell hit Jolly Gill as soon as she walked into the kitchen.

I'm like one of those super smellers.

The trash was full and ripe, the cat litter was rink, the sink full of dirty dishes.

I woke up and started seeing all these things and I'm like, what, this is disgusting.

Cleaning this mess up was her husband's responsibility.

In their marriage, Jolly was the one who did almost all the housework.

She just asked her husband to do three things.

Load and unload the dishwasher, take out the trash, and scoop out the cat litter.

That morning, none of it was done.

Jolly and her husband both worked from home, so she decided to wait until lunch time

to bring it up with him.

I'm very patient with all of that stuff I understand, things get in the way, but there

will be days and days and days that these things aren't done to completion or not touched

at all.

As they're standing in the living room, she tells her husband, this isn't super

official.

Like it really, really bothers me.

It's hard for me to do what I need to do if you're not doing what you need to do and it's

also hard to do all that without resentment or a negative feeling.

She tries to explain to him, I want her home to be a place where I feel comfortable and

at peace.

I can't do that if the first thing I smell in the morning is cat pee.
