Summary

Hey y’all, welcome back to the Roots and Refuge Podcast! Today I’m sharing the deep heart-work I’ve been sitting with this summer—how to truly be human in a world that often demands otherwise. This episode isn’t just about homesteading or daily rhythms, though those are part of it. It’s about reclaiming rest, nourishment, relationship, and presence as sacred and non-negotiable. I talk about raising a standard in my own life—sleeping enough, feeding myself well, tending relationships, and choosing not to trade my humanity for hustle. In a time where the digital world feels less real and more overwhelming, we have to decide what kind of life we want to build. And for me, that starts with wielding my humanity with intention and grace.

Thank you for spending time with me today. If you’ve found encouragement here, consider supporting the podcast on Patreon, where you can listen early and join our monthly Q&A.

As always—I bless you, until next time.

whole that last bit of being in relationship with each other and with the earth i don't feel like

you can homestead without becoming aware of yourself as you are in relationship with each other and with the earth. I don't feel like you can homestead without

becoming aware of yourself as you are in relationships. I know it has certainly brought relationship

alive to me in an incredible way. And I have found myself in recent season, this recent season,

1:09.6

just really exploring my own humanity and really just

1:13.1

coming to, like, just hungering to understand that.

1:16.9

And I'm finding that this podcast is just my favorite outlet to share that.

1:21.5

So I don't know.

1:22.1

I'm thinking about a new intro.

1:23.1

It has taken me like two and a half years to memorize that one, so maybe we'll just

1:25.8

stick with it.

1:27.3

Today, I want to talk to you kind of frankly about where I am and process a little bit of the place that I've been in and some of the goals that I'm setting for myself.

1:40.4

And I think that this will be a beneficial conversation because if I'm going through a process, I know I'm not the only person on the earth that's going through it.

There's been a little radio silence here for the last couple of months. I came home and shared. We'd just gotten back from going to a festival at the beginning of June and came home to a little bit of a whammy. I got sick and then I had to have

my wisdom teeth out. My husband hurt his elbow, which whenever both adults are down on a farm,

it is rough. Our kids actually helped us a lot there. There was about a week that we really needed a
