Good morning and welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham right here on Talk TV.

It's the start of yet another week. And what a week we've got in store for you, ladies and gentlemen.

I mean, we say this every single week that this could be quite an important one, but this one really is quite an important week.

Apart from anything else, it is of course Boris Johnson's D-Day, or a B-day, if you want to call it that.

He's going to be supposedly submitting at some point today his defence of the accusations that he was involved in Partygate, and he was involved also in misleading Parliament.

Now, whether or not you believe it, whether or not you care, whether or not you think it's a big deal.

It is a pretty big deal because Boris Johnson, of course, is already launching a very staunch defence saying that he did not mislead Parliament,

or to wit, he did not deliberately mislead Parliament, which is a nicety, which will make a big difference at the end.

And the fact that I'm told that he hasn't even submitted his submission yet to the committee would suggest

that it is actually going to be direct down to the wire. What I would say about this,

and John Rental may disagree, I think it's a colossal waste of public money, a colossal waste

of time. The people who are behind it would like to see Boris Johnson buried in the ground and

never allowed to come out again. That's not what I call democracy.

It's the same thing they're doing to Donald Trump in America.

They're going to try and get him on something so that he can never run again for president.

I don't think it suits Britain.

I don't think it's a very British way to operate.

But we shall see whether anybody else actually agrees with me.

The Rwanda deal is back on, and not only is it back on, supposedly, Rwanda can take thousands more people than it was first suggested. The other problem, of course, that has happened to everyone

over the weekend, and Julie Hartleger spoke about it, is this ludicrous and nonsensical and rather nasty, bilious form of social media

comment on all of this stuff.
