Summary
You can do all the glowing up in the world, but here’s the thing, if you don’t actually trust yourself, none of it means anything.
I’ve worked really hard on my self confidence and self assurance over the last few years, and honestly, it’s been way harder than I expected. Even now, there are days where if someone questioned me enough, I’d genuinely start doubting things I know are true. And that’s not because I’m incapable, it’s because I’ve learnt that self belief does not come naturally to most of us, and is something you have to actively build.
So today, I want to talk about what a real glow up actually looks like, not just externally, but internally too. This isn’t about being nice to yourself all the time and saying it’s self care, it’s about discipline, boundaries, structure, and self worth, and how those things actually work together in reality.
I’m chatting to Dr Ewoma to break this down properly, from building self assurance without losing self awareness, to tightening up your routines, elevating your everyday habits, and yes of course, getting your skincare right without overcomplicating it.

| 0:00.0 | What is up? I'm Grace Beverly and welcome back to Working Hard. |
| 0:14.6 | The podcast-shaped guide book on how to improve your own life and achieve what you actually dreamed of doing. |
| 0:18.8 | Because life's too short for boring podcasts and bad advice. |
| 0:25.2 | So I've always liked the idea of glowing up, but I think the way we talk about it is kind of broken. |
| 0:30.8 | It's always the same products, routines, checklists, and yet so many of us don't properly |
| 0:37.1 | glow up as a person. Like we might still feel |
| 0:39.7 | insecure or overwhelmed or unsure of ourselves. And if I am being honest, a lot of the glow up |
| 0:45.9 | content online only exacerbates that. It feels like a glow up is specifically an external view |
| 0:52.3 | of what you look like and how you grow over time, rather than truly |
| 0:56.2 | what it should be, which is getting to where you want to in your life and being the type of person |
| 1:00.7 | that you want to be and improving your mindset and all of these different things. I feel like |
| 1:04.9 | personally, over the past few years, I've had to work really hard on my own self-confidence |
| 1:08.6 | and self-assurance. And I don't think we talk enough about how difficult that actually is. Even when you're someone who's built self-trust and who knows that like, when I say I'm going to do something, I'm going to do something. There are still days where you can doubt yourself so easily. So for me this year, continuing to learn to be more self-assured was a genuine resolution. And I wanted to create an episode |
| 1:27.5 | about what can actually help make that happen. And this isn't just about being kinder to yourself, but this is about being more disciplined. This is about understanding where you want to get in life, being able to draw a line between how to actually get there and what your mindset needs to look like to actually get there. So I wanted to have this conversation with someone and I wanted to make sure I was getting advice at the same time as you were getting advice so that we can |
| 1:47.0 | all go on this journey and genuinely |
| 1:48.9 | feel like we are getting closer to the type of person we wanted to be. And when I think of glowing up |
| 1:54.4 | and confidence and coming from a place of self-assurance, there is one person I follow who I think |
| 2:00.4 | about when I say that, and that is |
| 2:02.8 | Dr. O'WOMA. I have followed her for years, so I originally followed her for everything about |
| 2:07.5 | skincare, and then just over time, I was like, God, this is a person who is, she knows what she wants, |
| 2:13.9 | she knows how to build herself and her mindset, And I wanted to get like a drop of that |
| 2:20.4 | confidence and that advice. I also feel like this is not something that she was born with. I followed her |
