I've worked with TED, but the stories I love the most, the weird, revealing, forgotten moments in history, the ones that somehow shine a light on the world we're living in today. That's what this day is all about. Three times a week, I team up with

actual historians, Nicole Hammer and Kelly Carter Jackson, to dig into one moment from that

day in U.S. history. Sometimes there's a big lesson, sometimes it's just bizarre and delightful.

I always walk away thinking, hmm, I'm really glad I know about that now. Like Dwight Eisenhower's weird vendetta against squirrels, or when Woodrow Wilson caught the flu,

the women who fought against the right to vote, or the Native American occupation of Alcatraz.
