I'm getting so close to finishing the first draft of my historical work in progress

the deepest breath that I can taste it.

And yes, I know I've said that before, but this time I feel certain it's almost finished.

The rewrite I started this spring to cut out and replace a substantial subplot is coming together

just as I hoped. The story feels so much more cohesive

and solid and I've gotten to flesh out my characters much more. The setting has

completely popped off the page and I've enjoyed practically every second of it. I always tend to be overly

optimistic in estimates of these kinds, but I'm thinking I'll probably have the first draft

finished by the end of August and be ready to jump into those early edits during the month of September.
