Summary

The Thinking Fellows discuss the Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds. They examine why creeds are a part of the Christian tradition and how they guide the church in confessing the truth of Scripture. They look at some typical rejections of the creeds and assert that every Christian has a Creed, whether they know it or not.

My name is Caleb and today I'm joined by my father, Dr. Scott Keith,

0:26.1

and by Dr. Adam Francisco to continue our Why You Should series.

0:31.5

We are on several months.

0:33.7

I don't know how many months of telling you what you should do,

0:39.3

which is very new for the Thinking Fellows. This used to be like a contemplative conversation, and now it's instructions.

1:13.6

theology, apologetics, biblical theology, is it when you have 40 minutes or less to sort of get

1:20.7

these topics done, you do have to use shorthand, right? You do use terms that maybe not everybody

1:26.8

will recognize. And something

1:28.3

like this is a really great way of just revisiting and redefining everything we've gone through

1:35.2

over the years and sort of given a fresh look at it. A bit of a pattern has erupted over the last

1:42.6

couple episodes. We did Why you should read the Old Testament.

1:47.8

Then we did why you should read the New Testament.

1:50.9

And then we just went into, Adam and I did, into the early church with a sort of

1:57.1

why you should know about the church in conflict.

2:01.3

It was, I think, how I phrased it, if I remember correctly, something to that extent

2:06.4

in order to give a scope of the fact that so much of the early church was apologetics

2:14.1

or defining the church to the world, I think is one of the other things we talked
