0:11.0	I'm Jensen Holt McNair. You could say that I'm a forgetful person and if you said
0:16.8	that you'd probably be super right and because of this personality trait I found that
0:22.2	it's helpful to leave myself little reminders
0:24.7	around the house so that I won't forget to do things. Like the other night, my husband asked me
0:29.6	if I could vacuum up the living room while our son was napping the next day and I told him as long as I remember
0:35.2	I would do it but if he really wanted me to do it then he should probably set the vacuum out in the living
0:40.7	room the next morning so that I couldn't possibly forget. I knew that the next morning, every time I saw the vacuum, I would remember what Sam had asked me and I'd vacuum up the living room. See, reminders are helpful.
0:54.3	Apple even gave us a permanent app on our phones to send as reminders because they know that we all
0:59.6	have a tendency to forget things we don't want to forget. Visual reminders can help us call to the front of our
1:06.4	minds things that are important to remember. Now the first eight verses in Deuteronomy 27 begin the third section of Moses's speech to the Israelites.
1:16.3	He has finished the retelling of the law, and now he's setting out to lay down the blessings
1:21.2	and curses that come along with keeping or failing to keep these laws that God has commanded of them.
1:27.0	But before he jumps in, we have these eight verses. Let's read them together.
1:32.0	Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people.
1:35.0	Keep all these commands that I give you today.
1:38.0	When you have crossed the Jordan into the land the Lord your God is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with
1:45.6	plaster. Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land
1:51.1	the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord the God of your ancestors promised you.
1:59.0	And when you have crossed the Jordan, set up these stones on Mount Eball as I commanded you and coat them with plaster.
2:07.0	Build there an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones.
2:11.3	Do not use any iron tool on them. Build the altar of the Lord
