Who is Jesus? Our world has all kinds of opinions about the most famous person in human history.

Some say he was a great moral teacher. Others say he was a prophet. Some view him as an advocate for social justice, while others consider him a revolutionary.

As Christians, we have an answer.

Jesus is Israel's Messiah,

God in the flesh, the Savior of the world.

But we too sometimes harbor unbiblical ideas about our Savior,

viewing and presenting him in ways that don't do justice

to the picture that we see in Scripture.

In our interview today, I'm talking with Rebecca McLaughlin

about common misconceptions about Jesus that people often have

and why we dare not put our Savior in a box.

Rebecca is a writer, a speaker, and the author of a number of books,

including Confronting Jesus, Nine Encounters with the Hero of the Gospels from Crossway.

It's my pleasure.

So we're going to talk today about Jesus and the way that we think about him, the way that

we understand him, sometimes misunderstand him. But I think before we jump into some of that,

it's worth mentioning that we all know that Jesus is so inextricably tied to our culture here

in the U.S. and probably in the West more generally. Jesus is just

integrated in so many deep ways. It's not uncommon for us in the U.S. to hear politicians and

musicians and actors and the like citing Jesus often maybe to support this or that cause or
