Hello friends, welcome to the podcast. I am Kory Allen and as always it's great to be here

0:08.8

in this moment of time with you. One of the things I've heard so much over the years

0:15.6

from listeners of the show, people that have read my book, of course people on Instagram

0:24.0

social media in general, is that they feel a lot of guilt around the thoughts that they have.

0:34.2

In general, they feel like that if they have negative thoughts, that it's a reflection of who

0:44.0

they are as a person. And quickly we should define what a negative thought is. Think about whenever

0:52.9

you're talking to someone and something like rude or sarcastic or even brutal arises in your mind.

1:04.5

And typically one doesn't say those things out loud, but they arise and then they move on.

1:13.6

Or if you're in a certain situation and you have a impulse or a thought to do something that

1:22.8

would be very negative, but of course you don't do it. For example, if you're standing on the

1:29.8

side of a bridge, looking at a beautiful landscape and body of water, a strange thought could fly

1:39.3

by in the back of your mind that thinks I could just push someone off this bridge right now.

1:45.2

How weird is that? And of course you'd never do it, but that random bit of information just

1:53.4

goes by in your mind. Of course, that's an extreme example, but this happens on a granular level

2:03.2

all the time. Typically whenever a person begins paying more attention to their thoughts,

2:12.4

is whenever they'll start having this feeling of guilt. That's because they've gone most of their

2:20.4

life, not really paying deep and close attention to all the thoughts that are moving by in their mind.

2:28.3

They could be aware that they're thinking, they could be aware of whenever they have an idea,

2:38.6

but they're not observing and placing their attention on the constant flow of everything that's

2:45.7

moving through their mind, their rising impulses, their emotional reactions,

2:55.0

and all of the mental formations that flows her mind.

3:03.2

Soon, everyone becomes aware of these things and starts paying more attention to them.
