Summary
This week on Stay True Podcast, Madi sits down with former Bachelor Ben Higgins and his wife and esthetician, Jess Higgins, for a deeply honest conversation about loneliness, depression, anxiety, and the hope of real connection.
Ben opens up about what it's like to feel alone even when you're surrounded by people, and how things started to change when he chose vulnerability over pretending. Jess shares about her postpartum journey and the isolation that can sneak in during seasons that are "supposed" to be joyful. Together, they talk about how shame loses its power when we bring our struggles into the light.
If you've ever felt alone in a crowded room, struggled silently, or wondered how to find people who truly see you, this episode is your reminder: you are not the only one. There is hope, there is help, and there is a community ready to surround you with love.
Always remember to stay you and stay true.
Topics we dive into:
- The hidden reasons we can feel alone… even in a crowded room
- The scary first step that actually unlocks real connection
- Why would a Christian go on The Bachelor?
- The unexpected way serving others can pull you out of your own spiral
- How opening up about your pain can become the bridge to real community
AND SO MUCH MORE!

| 0:00.0 | The Bachelor felt so messy that I was like, this is an opportunity, and I don't know what God is going to do with me and through me. When I'm looking at my body and I'm like, oh, God, I hate this about myself. And he's like, no, but I made you perfectly. What advice would you give if someone in the relationship is struggling with anxiety or isolation or loneliness or depression? I want to sit at the tables that are not comfortable. Why would a Christian ever go on The Bachelor? And I always say vulnerability breeds vulnerability. Check up on people. Even if you think that their life is perfect, or you don't think they're going through anything. I think this generation is crying out saying, like, does anyone see me and does anybody care? I think our best way to overcome some of this isolation and loneliness is by serving. |
