Last week I was at a conference in Australia talking to people about American politics, and something really strange happened.

Some of the Australians I encountered knew more about US politics than most Americans.

We've seen Ron de Sanders sort of just trailing down ever since he launched his campaign in the last six weeks or so.

We've seen Nicky Haley taking a little bit of that slough.

I mean the fact that they are taking $14 billion away from IRS enforcement,

means the CEO that's the budgeting of us.

It got really weird when I went on a popular Australian news show and one of the hosts

started asking me about the internals of some state poll I had never even heard of.

Why the heck did these Australians know so much about what goes on in Iowa, or at Trump's criminal trials,

were the potential effects of Cornell West and Bobby Kennedy making it onto the ballot?

Why the hell are there so many American politics junkies in this country?

Yes, the stakes are high in terms of Australia's foreign policy and America being our

major strategic partner, if not economic partner.

But it is also, you know, it is,

they talk about politics being, you know,

show business for ugly people.

Well, it's just show business to us.

American politics is show business. It's reality TV.

It is so much bigger than everything that we have here.

It turns out there are some good reasons for this obsession.

When you dig into those reasons, you'll actually learn a lot about American politics.

I love America, I love America so much.
