Steve Schmidt with the warning, and I'm thrilled today to be joined by the former U.S.

Acting Secretary of Labor and the former California Secretary of Labor, Julie Sue.

We're going to talk about what's going on in the country and what job was more fun,

the California job or the D.C. job. Well, it turns out there were a lot of similarities

between them. I think partly because California is a big state. And so, you know, a lot of the

enforcement, the, you know, the investments to make sure that we're creating good jobs, the unemployment

insurance benefit system all fell

into the same thing. So it was different. But I did think that it was really important to serve on

the federal level to try to make sure that working people across the country felt some of that,

you know, sense of security that we wanted for everybody. When you look at the economy right now, and you are talking to people in your life

who are not former government officials, you know, who are not economists.

And I imagine people must approach you like they might a doctor or a dentist, you know, kind of like my two-thirds, right?

Like, hey, Julie, what's going on in the economy?

What do you, what do you say to them right now?

Well, the truth is, Steve, right now, what a lot of people say to me is what the hell is going on?

Like, why are the things that are happening happening, right?

Even if things were not, you know, ideal, things were not perfect, people were struggling before,

the fact that this president has taken the baton that, you know, he was handed from President Biden and just spiked it, is infuriating to people.

You know, it's mystifying, right?

It's, you know, it feels like this president, if he was

trying to drive the economy off the cliff and trying to head us down the road to recession,

this is exactly the playbook that he would use. And so people are, you know, like, you know,
