for a player who did not have much of a role on the team.

Today we have our weekly mailback show.

Each Wednesday we try to do a mailbag with list of our questions. But before we get to that, the Jets did make a trade in advance of the NFL's trade deadline, which came at 4 o'clock Eastern on Tuesday afternoon. It feels more and more through the years like the trade deadline has picked up steam. It used to not be that big of a deal, especially compared with the NBA's trade deadline and baseball's trade deadline. But it feels like each year there are a few more trades made. And the New York Jets did make a deal. And it was not necessarily a sign that the team was a seller at the trade deadline. Now, I felt like the Jets should have just been sellers. I think they should have given up all the, you know,

all the guys that aren't going to be back here next year and trying to get picks for all of them. But they did give up a player in exchange for a draft pick. This was not, I don't think this was a move that indicated the Jets were selling. I think it's a move that indicated that they just did not really have a place for this player. And that player, of course, was Mike Williams,

who goes to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a fifth round pick.

And ever since the Jets made the Devante Adams trade, there have been rumors about Williams

potentially being on the way out. It certainly felt like the Adams deal was done with the idea

Adams was taking Williams a spot. Williams became the odd man out in that

situation. And, you know, somebody was going to have to go. And that guy is Mike Williams. And he,

the Jets made the Devante Adams trade the week they played the Pittsburgh Steelers. And the Steelers were

one of the teams that were most rumored to be in the market for Williams. But of course,

the teams did not discuss it that way because the Jets did not want to trade Williams to the team that

were playing. But obviously the team stayed in touch and the Jets sent Williams to Pittsburgh for a

fifth round pick. Now, look, I know a fifth round pick is not very exciting. I know nobody's going to

get that pumped about it. And the odds of any fifth round pick hitting are very low.

But as we discussed frequently on this podcast, it's not about the odds of hitting on any individual pick.
