Doubt arises out of personal tragedy when we can't square our circumstances with our faithfulness,

out of popular influences when we start to believe the popular image of someone, including Jesus.

They also come because of incomplete revelation. This is really the crux of the matter.

John's doubts came because he didn't have full information.

Bethlehem 2,000 years ago was God in the flesh, that he never sinned, that he died for

today's lesson. We find ourselves in the seventh chapter of the Gospel of Luke and

verses 18 to 23.

We're introduced to the fact that even the best of men, the greatest of men, the

noblest of men, the greatest of men who had ever lived, can experience doubt.

And so we're talking about doubt, believing doubt.
