Summary

From "Guilt Prone" to Freedom from Guilt

Teachers, raise your hand if you've ever felt guilt prone in the following situations: you feel the need to apologize every time that you're late for work. You feel guilt grief when you ask for time off for some important event. You can't help feeling overwhelmed as a teacher if you receive less than stellar reviews on your teacher assessment. You didn't get a job you applied for, so you send an email asking for what you could have done better. Does any of this sound familiar? I'm willing to bet it does. Friends, I have soooo been there. And I'm here to tell you – there's hope. But first, know this: guilt is subconscious. That means that – for a number of possible reasons – you've been preconditioned to feel guilty.

Start by acknowledging your guilt prone tendencies

In today's episode, I'm going to talk about why teachers are guilt prone and what to do about it. Maybe you feel guilt over leaving teaching. Or maybe you feel guilt for leaving your job. Perhaps you feel guilt quitting your job. Whatever the reason, I'm going to share with you a step by step process on how to let go of guilt and how to start living with more freedom. Removing guilt is the first step to living the life of your dreams. Ready to start living with less guilt and more freedom? Accept, acknowledge, and listen to this episode!

In this episode, you will learn:

  • How your beautiful, big teacher-heart is leading you to feeling overwhelmed as a teacher
  • What guilt does to a person
  • How to start saying "no" to what you don't want so that you may start saying "yes" to what matters
  • Why you are not responsible for everything that happens at your school

I went to Colorado with my family. And then for the fourth, we went down to our favorite island and spent the time at the beach.

It was amazing. But today is day one of getting back on track and getting all of my

on how to let go of the guilt and start living more of your life without feeling that type of way.

People who are prone to guilt tend to work harder and perform

better than people who are not guilt prone and are perceived to be more capable leaders.

That's written by David Burns, and I thought it was a great way to kind of go into today's show.

1:07.3

I'm going to share with you why guilt can be a bad thing, a lot in today's show.

1:11.3

But I think it's important to realize that it is okay to feel that way and that people who are

1:17.9

guilt prone are perceived to be more capable leaders. We just have to learn really how to balance

1:24.1

it all. We don't want to feel guilty too much, but we still want to have a little bit

of a conscience. Conscience is still really important. And then my favorite quote, maybe ever,

I was reading this and I was like, oh my gosh, this is so, so good. I wanted to share this with

you right now. Never judge someone's character based on the words of another.

Instead, study the motives behind the words of the person casting the bad judgment.
