Summary
This week Gi reunites with her old friend Susannah Fielding! You’ll know Susannah from This Time with Alan Partridge, Man vs Baby, and Wolf Hall — but her most important role is being mum to her two-year-old son Alfie.
Susannah opens up to Gi about growing up with a single mother and an intermittently absent father, how those experiences shaped her relationships, and why she’s so focused on breaking cycles and not passing trauma on to her own child.
She also shares the story of her planned home birth that turned into an emergency C-section, the challenges she faced with breastfeeding, and what it’s been like returning to the theatre as a mum.
You can catch Susannah starring opposite Adrian Lester in Cyrano de Bergerac at the Noël Coward Theatre from 13th June.

| 0:39.1 | Now that's what I say it, common old meat. |
| 0:41.1 | She says it much more fancier and she also does it at the end of the French accent, which is amazing. |
| 0:46.6 | So it's worth listening to this episode just to hear saying Serrano de Boisurac in her French accent, if I'm honest. |
| 0:53.2 | In all of my research for this chat, |
| 0:56.3 | Susanna's not really spoken about, |
| 0:58.7 | well, she hasn't spoken about motherhood. |
| 1:00.3 | We could find zilch. |
| 1:02.5 | So much so that lovely producer Alex had to just make sure that she did have a child. |
| 1:06.7 | I knew that she had a child. |
| 1:08.2 | But she's just not spoken about it. |
| 1:09.9 | And that was really fun, |
| 1:11.7 | actually, going into this chat, knowing that, you know, she is someone I have a history with, |
| 1:17.2 | a very happy history with, and that I was going to learn about this whole area of her life, |
| 1:22.4 | along with you, about how motherhood has presented itself, I guess, in the last few years. We talk a lot about |
