| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the intersection of faith and culture. |
| 0:09.2 | This is The Wall Builder Show where we take on the hot topics of the day from a biblical, historical, and constitutional perspective. |
| 0:16.0 | That very simply means whatever the topic is, we're going to say, what's the Bible say about it? |
| 0:19.3 | Let's get some truth on this. |
| 0:56.1 | And then let's look into history. Let's look at times where this has been tried before and see what works and what doesn't work. There's nothing new under the sun. Solomon was right about that. So even when you hear all these socialist utopia ideas, it's not new. There's been efforts at that forever. And what we have to do is recognize that it has never worked. And we can do that by simply studying history. What's the same with any topic? We can see what actually works. Capitalism works. We can see what works in terms of marriage. One man, one woman. The idea that you're going to have the nuclear political unit in the country, be the family, the husband and the wife and the children, and that that's going to be the smallest form of government, |
| 1:00.0 | and that's going to be what you build communities on. We know from history how well that works. |
| 1:04.7 | We know from just looking at the data, what works and what doesn't work, and how when you |
| 1:08.6 | destroy marriage, when you cheapen marriage, when you make anything, something you would call marriage, then the culture falls apart. |
| 1:16.0 | And it actually ends up costing everybody more. |
| 1:17.8 | It ends up creating more crime, more fatherlessness, all of those things lead to a bad society. |
| 1:22.6 | So that's how you look into history and learn, same as you're looking into the Bible, what's true, and what does God's say, what's the laws of nature and nature's God say, then look into history and see what works, what doesn't work, and then how does it work under our Constitution? Is it constitutional under our laws in this country? So that's why we always say on this program, biblical, historical, and constitutional perspective. Well, a great expert on all three of those things is a guy named Matt Staber. And yesterday, we got the first half of his presentation at the pro-family legislators conference. We're going to jump right back in where he left off yesterday. This is Matt Staver from Liberty Council, L.C.org is their website. |
| 2:03.5 | Matt Staver of Liberty Council at the ProFamily Legislators Conference. |
| 2:04.9 | When we return, we're going to take a quick break. |
| 2:06.2 | You're listening to The Wallbiller Show. |
| 2:17.6 | This is Tim Barton from Wall Builders with another moment from American history. |
| 2:24.4 | In 1963, the United States Supreme Court decided that voluntary Bible reading could no longer be part of the school day. |
| 2:28.7 | Founding Father Benjamin Rush, known as the father of public schools under the Constitution, |
| 2:35.0 | pointedly warned that the Bible should be read in schools in preference to all other books. He specifically warned that if America ever ceased promoting biblical principles in schools, |
| 2:39.0 | then we would waste so much time and money and punishing crimes and take so little pains to prevent them. |
| 2:45.0 | He was right. |
| 2:47.0 | We now have 7 million Americans in prison on probation or on parole, |
| 2:54.2 | and the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world. |
