One half was implementing socialist policies.

One half was implementing more free market capitalist policies.

And the observed conditions that resulted from that implementation could hardly be more stark to the point where they literally had to build.

What did he describe here?

Walls, barbed wire, electrified fences, minefields, automatic shooting devices, watchtowers

for a 900 mile stretch to keep people from exiting the socialist regime and escaping into the capitalist regime.

I would imagine that the North Korea, South Korea distinction also would be another really good example of this.

I think I've read that like even the height difference among the South Koreans, North Korean, like is several inches of height difference.

Like they're shorter because they're malnutrition and whatever.

So I do think that the East German, West German, and the North Korea, South Korea examples are two of the best to illustrate the harmful effects of socialism.
