I wanted to talk to you specifically around the non-unanimous jury situation that is true

in two states right now, Louisiana and Oregon, and looks like Louisiana, might be able to

change at this fall on the ballot.

But it's not really moving in Oregon, and you are the inside or the inside.

So I thought that I'd call you and just ask what's up.

Sure.

Yeah, you're right.

Oregon is in bad company with Louisiana on non-unanimous juries.

We all know that most people take it for granted that the American Justice system requires

unanimous jury verdicts of 12 people in order to find somebody guilty of a crime.

It's really one of the hallmarks of our system, and it's an intentionally high bar for someone

to be convicted of a crime.

It's not the case in Oregon, it's not the case in Louisiana, and I think most Oregonians

aren't aware of that.
