One of my professors said something I've never forgotten.

He said, you know, a lot of people argue over what addiction is and what, you know, how do you know you have one?

And he said, basically, when you can't do life without the thing, you're attached to it in an unhealthy way.

Anybody who says, hey, it's not harming anybody. I'm just, you know, this is how I cool my jets.

This is how I figure out how am I going to do life tomorrow. Okay, then give it up. Oh, no, I don't want to give it up.

Okay.

Then you can't do life without the thing.

That's an idol.
