Well, I've got some genuinely exciting news this week.

Young Hertics, in its new, updated, and improved relaunched format, which has been going on for just under a year now,

has just received over 1 million downloads and I think what that means is that

you're all stuck with me for the foreseeable future. to each before listening. Whether you've been with this show for all four years in its various

formats that it's been around or if this is your first episode that you're just tuning in for,

uncovering and recovering the traditions that have made us who we are, and sharing

I definitely didn't think I was going to be doing this this long.

I started this show, not imagining that it would reach that many of you not

imagining that it would break through the noise of the news cycle and thinking that my interests

were probably pretty niche and maybe it was a lost cause to resurrect the significance of Elizabethan verb forms or you know

whatever thing I'm on about today. Homeric verse or and all of that but actually it has turned out that a lot of you out there

like me are hungry for richer soul food than the internet typically provides if you just scroll through

the latest big flashy color and sound bite that you're getting from whatever feed you happen to prefer.

We're all feeling, I think, addled and disoriented and dissatisfied with these kind of social media stream feed style news stories that pelt us all the time and

also we feel disconnected from the greatness of the past. We feel cut off from our heritage,

sometimes intentionally, sometimes in universities,

why we've been deprived of this great tradition
