So we're going to read in just a moment from Jeremiah 32 and then we'll go later in the message to Ezekiel 22 and we are in a

series entitled drawing closer the secrets of prayer. I want to talk to you today about why pray. I mean why even

pray. The reason I want to talk to you about this is because I don't think we pray enough

and I think if we really believe that prayer changed things, we'd

pray more. So why should we pray? Now before we get to Jeremiah 32, let me read you a scripture.

Luke 18 verse 1 says, then he spoke a parable to them that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.

Now this is Jesus and the reason Jesus spoke this parable, the Bible tells us, is so that we would always pray.

Now, here's a simple question, but why would Jesus tell us to always pray if prayer doesn't work. If prayer doesn't change things, why would Jesus

tell us to pray? And also, why would he tell us to not lose heart when we're praying for something? In other words, I think he already knew that it's a very good possibility that we could get discouraged while we're praying for something.

So he's encouraging us to always pray. Now, we talking about why pray have you ever thought about

this? Why did Jesus pray? When Jesus was on this earth we read all these times in the

Gospels where it says he often withdrew for prayer, he often

spent the night in prayer, he got up early to pray, why did Jesus pray?

I don't know if you ever thought about that.

He was God. Jesus was and is God. So why would God

pray? Why would he need to pray? Well, one guy I asked this last week, I said, why did Jesus

pray? He said to be an example to us well I don't believe

that I don't think Jesus did anything to be an example to us I think Jesus is an

example to us but I think Jesus came and was himself. He just acted the way he was himself.

He didn't act in a way, he just lived his life and that life is an example of us, but he didn't
