Good morning, my friends. Welcome back. It's time for the morning mindset.

Time for us to get our minds aligned with the truth of God. Let's dive right in.

To Psalm, chapter 18. This is a fairly long song and we're not going to make it through the whole song

So I'm just going to select some sections that we can focus in on. I want to start in verse number one through

verse number three and David the writer says I love you oh Lord my strength

the Lord is my rock and my fortress and my delight Lord my strength.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer.

My God, my rock and whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my

stronghold.

I call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised and I am saved from my enemies.

Now there are a lot of terms used in there and imagery that David refers to that are

kind of antiquated in our frame of reference meaning we don't understand fully

what they mean.

I mean, when David says things like my rock and my fortress,

we don't typically deal with rocks or fortresses

in that sense in our day. But a city wall or if they were going to build a

city wall or if they were going to build a building that they dig down and find the

rock to build that building on, to have a firm foundation. In the same way, a

fortress was a place of security and refuge to protect against enemies. You see, he's using this imagery to show us something that God is like.

He is a firm foundation under our feet. He is our place of refuge. He even goes on and says, in whom I take refuge. You see, we have a choice.

We have a decision when the difficulties and hardships of life come our way. We can either try to handle it on our own and stick it out
