πŸ“œ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Psalm 17

Hear a just cause, O Lord; attend to my cry!
    Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit!
From your presence let my vindication come!
    Let your eyes behold the right!

You have tried my heart, you have visited me by night,
    you have tested me, and you will find nothing;
    I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.
With regard to the works of man, by the word of your lips
    I have avoided the ways of the violent.
My steps have held fast to your paths;
    my feet have not slipped.

I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God;
    incline your ear to me; hear my words.
Wondrously show your steadfast love,
    O Savior of those who seek refuge
    from their adversaries at your right hand.

Keep me as the apple of your eye;
    hide me in the shadow of your wings,
from the wicked who do me violence,
    my deadly enemies who surround me.

10 They close their hearts to pity;
    with their mouths they speak arrogantly.
11 They have now surrounded our steps;
    they set their eyes to cast us to the ground.
12 He is like a lion eager to tear,
    as a young lion lurking in ambush.

13 Arise, O Lord! Confront him, subdue him!
    Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword,
14 from men by your hand, O Lord,
    from men of the world whose portion is in this life.
You fill their womb with treasure;
    they are satisfied with children,
    and they leave their abundance to their infants.

15 As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness;
    when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.

Good morning my friends. It is time for the morning mindset. Are you ready to get

0:06.6

your mind aligned with the truth of God? We are going to do that this morning by

0:10.7

jumping right into Psalm 17. Now let me apologize right off the

back. I am parked in a place where doing this recording there may be traffic

zooming by right next to my window. And matter of fact, there goes one right now.

If you hear that, just know that's what's going on.

0:27.0

In a way I can avoid it.

0:29.0

So today, we are going to talk about Psalm 17,

0:32.0

and I want you to think about the difference between being

0:37.2

assured in your own heart and mind that you are right with God and being arrogant. Okay, so let me say that again.

0:47.2

Think about the difference between being arrogant and being proud and on the other hand being assured of your right standing before God. There is a difference and sometimes it's a very subtle

1:04.8

nuance that we can come to there when we're trying to discern whether or not we are

1:10.8

acting boastfully or we're saying things in a boastful way.

1:14.4

Psalm 17 I have found is very helpful in that regard

1:18.4

because it is David praying to the Lord

1:21.7

about his own righteousness and about God's view of his own righteousness.

1:28.6

So let's listen to it.

1:29.6

It says, here a just cause, O Lord, attends to my cry.
