Hey, what's going on, guys. Welcome back to Jeremy Scott Fitness podcast or radio show coming to you on a Tuesday, late night edition for me anyways. That's about 8 p.m. I've been up since before 4 on the straight hustle today. But I wanted to get this out to you because it was important and I've been thinking about it honestly most of the day. And this is going to be a blog post that will live on the Jeremy Scott Fitness website.

0:23.8

If you guys, again, side note, if you don't get our emails, I've sent out a newsletter email

0:28.7

every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the past 11 years.

0:32.6

I've never missed a Monday, Wednesday, Friday in the past 11 years.

0:36.6

And even way back when, when I had probably 34 people on the email list, I would still do it. And now obviously we've reached kind of critical mass with that. So if you guys do not get those emails, shoot me a message. I'm happy to put you on the list. And you'll get at least three a week from me. Some weeks we end up going five, six, or seven, depending on what's, you know,

0:54.5

coming out of my brain that I think can provide you value and make your life a little bit better.

0:58.3

And the title of the blog post is actually why people stay broke, stay unhealthy, and stay

1:04.3

unhappy. But I thought it would have more power if it went to the podcast, because A, the podcast

1:09.0

is getting to a place that's far beyond superseding

1:12.6

our email list, which is amazing. I thank you guys. Again, I'm humbled that you choose to listen.

1:17.6

And I wanted to kick this off with a different podcast snippet that I heard the other day,

1:24.0

which ties into this and it's going to kind of segue me into talking about why I

1:28.0

personally think people stay broke, unhealthy, and unhappy. What I've seen from my personal

1:33.4

experience growing up as a young kid to obviously doing this now as a career for the better part

1:38.3

of 10, 11, 12, 13, 15 years in fitness and kind of this space. And the podcast I'm referencing is called Optimal Finance Daily.

1:46.9

Again, you guys know me.

1:48.2

If you follow me, I do think fitness and finance parallel each other.

1:51.5

There's a lot of truths in both.

1:53.7

And the same way you can be successful in one, it is very similar to how you can be

1:57.6

successful in the other.

1:58.3

I think fitness is the harder of the two personally and take it for me, a guy who grew up, broke is shit. I'm saying that to you. So in the podcast, they're talking about retirement, and one of the biggest regrets people have later on in life is that they didn't save for retirement. They didn't, whether it be, you know, investing in real estate, whether it be in, you know, mutual funds, index funds, you know, participating in their companies, 401K, if they, if by some chance you're one of the small percent of people who has a pension plan, that's what they're talking about. And the question they pose was, you know, do you think, you know, the average American can really save retirement? And I think that's the great social experiment that we're going through right now, actually. You know, because back in the day, my grandfather, he was a firefighter. And he had a pension plan. He actually made more money when he retired than he made actually while he was working. Now, obviously, the guys who are still firefighters, I think you guys probably have a pretty decent pension plan.

2:51.9

Hopefully you do. But he did, and he would always harp on me, Jeremy, you know, and he's old school, obviously. You have to get a good job that has benefits and retirement. And he would always, he would drill that down into me. You know, he was the only one who really drilled down the retirement thing to me and almost to the point of where he scared the shit out of me
