Oasis were my first love musically. I remember being in my early to mid-teens and the

lad who lived next door was a couple of years older than me called Ryan and he was

he's sort of bigger than me older than me cooler than me

he had the green parker the the cool hair I basically just wanted to be him and all

he listened to was Oasis and so that was you know basically me hooked.

Josh Halliday is the Guardian's North of England editor but long before that he was an

Oasis fan despite being only six when their first album came out.

And then going into my sort of 14 to 15 year,

my first house party's first taste of alcohol,

throwing up after three bottles of beer, you know, all the kind of

rock and roll things that you do as a mid-teenager. You know, we had Oasis at the kind of height of their

powers in the early 2000s and as we were coming into adolescence and getting to know ourselves

and going into teenager-dom with all the kind of swagger bravado that Oasis songs

bring it really does mean early teenage

of them for me, Oasis.

The band provided the music for some of the most important times

in his life.

You know, going on holiday with my family, I remember my brother singing Oasis songs Little

by Little and Stop Crying Your Heart Out were his favourites.
