Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast and is joined by Josh Taylor of KDKA-TV. Mike Tomlin spoke candidly about his support of Brian Flores in his lawsuit and explained how and why the Steelers hired Flores in light of his legal issues with the NFL. He also called out the NFL for the racial disparities in coaching hires in a strong fashion. The NFL instituted a new hiring rule that forces team to employ at least one minority or woman offensive assistant coach on every NFL roster, but Tomlin says he wants to see real action and doesn't see just talking about it as a resolution to the NFL's struggles to hire Black and minority coaches. But his support of Flores and their mutual respect that went along with hiring the former Miami Dolphins head coach further addresses the respect Tomlin commands among fellow head coaches and the NFL. It's also a further testament to the level of support Steelers Owner Art Rooney II gives Tomlin and is willing to have the Steelers be on the front lines for coaching. Also, the NFL adopted new overtime rules for the playoffs that will allow both teams to get the ball.
