Happy Wednesday. I'm Chuck Todd. Welcome to another episode of the Chuck Todd cast. Yes, this is our third straight day dropping a new episode. I told you it would be a four episode week. I've got one more coming tomorrow. So take that summer slowdown world. I will down shift a bit in July and August, just like the rest of the world.

We'll still do a couple of week, but I won't hit you up with four. But if you've been tuning in this

week, you know, I've been in what I'm calling documentary dreamland a little bit. We're in the heart

of a big release period for nonfiction documentaries. The DC Docs Film Festival is starting at the end of this week.

It's become a major launching pad for documentaries that are likely going to be in the conversation

during Oscar season, both short form and feature length.

And of course, long time listeners know this has been a passion of mine since we started

to meet the press film festival some, I guess I was seven or eight years ago now,

did what DC Docs is doing is even broader, more ambitious, continuation of the idea,

and the lineup this year has been terrific. And that brings me to today's interview.

I'm talking to the co-directors of Prime Minister. That's a new documentary about Jacinda Ardern.

She's now the former Prime Minister of New Zealand. But I will tell you, it's a fascinating real-time

political memoir. You don't get, I guess this is something, I guess we can look forward to going forward if you have more media-friendly world leaders.

Ardurne kept a personal journal. She allowed extensive access from these directors.

And her look, her period of leadership, it's a pretty full page.

If every world leader gets a page in the history books, her page is pretty full.

She's only a second sitting world leader in history to give birth while in office.

She led the country.

She had COVID happen on her watch.

That was a big part of the documentary.

She also took a pretty aggressive action in the wake of a mass shooting in New Zealand.

The Christchurch shooting also happened on her watch. And they ended up having a passing an assault weapons ban. Of course. They don't have the Second Amendment.
