This is Chuck Todd and welcome to another episode of the Chuck Todd cast.

As I promised you, we're doing our fourth drop of the week.

This one is not a documentary interview.

This one is actually an interview with Barbara Comstock.

She's a former Republican member of Congress from Northern Virginia.

The neighboring district, where I live, in case you're wondering, she has been a pretty vocal, you know, she came to Congress in the teens.

Somebody that I think would be have considered what I would have called a conventional conservative, and I don't mean that as any sort of positive or negative in that she was sort of a mainstream conservative Republican,

the type of conservative Republicans that, you know, were moderate on certain issues that mattered to suburban America, but she figured out how to get elected.

And let's just say she's never been comfortable in the Trump, in the, in Trump's

Republican Party.

She's pretty outspoken anti-Trumper.

What's interesting is she's working with an organization that is not, there's sort of two

types of sort of ex- Republicans or

Republicans in exile. There are the Republicans, most of them at Bullwork, who do, who believe the

party is irredeable. And so these are sort of conservatives who are lost, who are hoping the Democratic

Party will move to the center,

but are definitely feel as if they're in no man's land.

I think Barbara Comstock has, you know, I think she's,

she's vacillating between the party's irredeemable

and the party might be reformed from the inside.
