Luke chapter 19 is where we are this morning. I'm going to read verses 41 to 44. Luke

chapter 19 starting at verse 41. It says as he drew near, that is Jesus, as Jesus drew near, he came,

he saw the city and wept over it. The city that he sees here is Jerusalem, and he wept over it.

Verse 41 says, verse 42, saying, if you had known even you, especially in this year day,

the things that make for your peace, but now they are hidden from your eyes.

For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you,

surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you

to the ground.

And they will not leave in you one stone upon another because you did not know the time of your visitation. Because you did not know the time of your visitation because you did not know the time

of your visitation. Well, again, from verse 41, it says, as he drew near, he saw the city and he

wept over it, I've entitled today's teaching, why Jesus weeps, why Jesus weeps. Let's pray.

Father, we commit our Bible study to you now as we open up the pages of your word, and we pray

that this story would speak to our own hearts today. Here we are some almost 2,000 years later,

and Lord, we are pondering these things. We look at this story and we want

our own hearts to be moved by what we read. So speak to us by your Holy Spirit. I thank you for all

those who are here and those who are watching online. We commit our Bible study to you, Lord.

Speak to us now by that tender, gentle whisper of your Holy Spirit.

And we love you in Jesus' name. And everyone said, amen. Well, why do people in general

weep? People cry for all kinds of reasons on one end of the emotional spectrum. You have people,

we cry for sadness.

We cry because of grief.

We cry because of pain, be it emotional or physical pain.
