Hello my friends I'm speaking to you today about a passage in one of my all time favorite books

0:18.1

which is the alchemist by Paolo Coello and this this book has many, many gifts in it, so much wisdom. It's still one

0:26.7

of the most popular books in the world. Over a hundred million copies sold, I beg you, If you haven't read the alchemist, please drop everything and do so. In fact, I, this is actually quite cool. I tend to read or reread the alchemist every year or every couple of years and then

I heard Brennay Brown actually say that she reads or rereads the alchemist every single year.

0:52.3

It is a wonderful book full of many incredible lessons and I won't give anything away here.

different analogies are used, of course, from the book,

1:41.0

but there's a part of the book that is a little, you know, maybe overlooked,

1:47.9

under dramatic, yet just speaks to me so completely. And I actually want to read to you the exact passage. So the

1:58.8

alchemist and Santiago the boy are going through the desert where it is dangerous and they are stopped right they are

2:06.1

stopped by some men who are guards and they want to search them so when that happens

2:12.3

right they are being searched.

2:15.0

And one of the guards asks the alchemist, what are these things, holding up a couple of his items in a bag.

2:23.4

And the alchemist answers,

2:25.7

Oh, that's the philosopher's stone and the alixir of life.
